Coming together in one season there is opera, dance and an important concert proposal that ranges from symphonic and chamber music to Baroque, and from jazz to contemporary. With an increasingly broad and multifaceted range of entertainment on offer, the Fondazione del Teatro Grande continues down the path of renewal undertaken in recent years to make the theatre a space which is open to more than one genre and to a diverse audience, including different age groups. A path which is affirmed by the growing demand and participation of the public, and which nourishes a positive and growing attendance at Teatro Grande not only by spectators, but also by artists who renew their collaborations with the Foundation from year to year.

The September-December 2018 Season presents a kaleidoscope of sounds and images with artists from Argentina, Estonia, Italy, Switzerland, Finland and Germany. Contemporary dance and music, baroque and jazz, symphonic music and chamber music offer a well-structured and evocative panorama, a transversal approach to politics and aesthetics, to underline the infinite variations of languages and artistic approaches.

Tickets and carnets for the Season are on sale from the 18th of May online (at teatrogrande.it and vivaticket.it), in the Brescian branches of UBI Banca (see the complete list HERE) and at the Ticket Office of Teatro Grande. test

Teatro Grande presents the results of 2017. The billboard of Fondazione del Teatro Grande saw the traditional Opera and Ballet Season, and concerts – divided into events of symphonic music, chamber music, baroque and contemporary music, jazz and pop – and dance performances, as well as special projects for children and cultural events. The year focused on the presence of international artists and companies, but also on the development of young talents with the aim of making the area of Brescia of national and international excellence.

2017 has consolidated the path of renewal undertaken by the Foundation, awarded with the consent of critics and artists as well as the growing and numerous participation of the public. In 2017, at Teatro Grande there were 102 events directly organized by the Foundation, to which were added 2 shows organized in collaboration with other local organizations. The 2017 season was met with great enthusiasm by the public, once again recording a double-digit increase: 10% more than the previous year.

The trend of growth in attendance continues for the Foundation’s shows, which is seeing more than quadruple the amount of spectators since the time of its establishment.

The figures shown do not include the tens of thousands of spectators of 2017’s Festa dell’Opera, that on September 16th, from dawn to midnight, brought to Brescia hundreds of artists in over 50 places in the city, both public and private.

Also noteworthy is the significant increase in under30 audience members, which in 2017 reached the highest amount in the last seven years, with an increase of 39% compared to the previous year. Also in 2017 the important collaborations with Brescian universities and schools have been organised in order to bring young audience members closer to live shows in a wide variety of ways. The participation of young people was sought not only through dedicated programming, but also with special price policies, targeted communication campaigns, and thanks to participation projects that have made the children the protagonists of some performances.

This strategy has resulted in successful years, with a steady increase in the under30 audience, which today accounts for 29% of the total public.

In 2017, the Fondazione del Teatro Grande involved 1,505 artists in its activity, generating for the city over 130,000 euros in expenses for food and lodging. The additional, significant, economic impact generated by the public has not been counted.

Also, we remind you that Teatro Grande is a partner of the OperaLombardia Circuit, a brand that brings together the five Traditional Lombardy Theatres (Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia and Fondazione Donizetti di Bergamo), with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Regione Lombardia and Teatro alla Scala as partners. The operatic productions of Teatro Grande on tour in the theatres of the OperaLombardia Circuit were seen by around 30,000 people in 2017.

Lastly, it should be noted that, in 2017, Teatro Grande was confirmed as one of the most attractive places for cultural tourism in Brescia and its province with an 18% increase in visitors (excluding audience members) compared to the previous year.

test

After the extraordinary success of the debut of 2017, La Grande Notte del Jazz returns on Saturday 7th April from late afternoon until late night, to invade all the spaces of the Theatre.

7 hours of non-stop music, 15 concerts, and 37 artists from all over the world: Italy, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and United States.

Three paths have been designed for this initiative

AIR provides more ethereal, reflective, introspective paths

GROUND expresses a more rooted – but not exclusive – relationship with the languages of the past (jazz tradition, folk song, rock)

FIRE is more “expansive”, energetic and risky music.

All three routes will open at 7.00 pm in the Sala Grande with a concert by Fulvio Sigurtà, Federico Casagrande and Paolino Dalla Porta.

During the intervals between the concerts in the smaller rooms, the spectators of the three routes will be invited to meet in Sala Grande for two improvised performances: the first, at 9.30 p.m., will be “Tivoli of the Mind” with Ned Ferm (tenor saxophone, effects) and Emanuele Maniscalco (electric piano, synth, drums). At 11.15pm the second exciting intermission will be “Horns!”: Among the guest artists of the evening, a large team of wind instrumentalists will occupy the stages of the theatre and give life to an improvised musical conversation.

The carnet of the three routes (full €30.00, reduced under30 and over65 €20) will be on sale from the 23rd March at the Ticket Office of Teatro Grande, at teatrogrande.it and vivaticket.it, and in all authorized branches of Ubi Banca in Brescia and its province (opening hours of the Teatro Grande ticket office: from Tuesday to Friday from 1.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. and Saturday from 3.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.). The concerts will not be sold individually.

La Grande Notte del Jazz will have events throughout the day. From 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., it will be possible to freely access the Sala delle Statue of the theatre for “Ascolti Jazz“. At 11.00 a.m., the rehearsal for Horse Orchestra will be reserved for first and second graders from secondary schools. At 5.30 pm jazz will cross the threshold of the theatre for an unusual performance open to everyone in Corso Zanardelli, organized by Pulsar Ensemble. Finally, the big news of the 2018 edition will be the “Late Night Jam“: at 01.15 a.m. the artists will find themselves in a secret place of the theatre for a jazz club evening style closing. The places to participate in the “Late Night Jam” are limited and can be purchased at the Ticket Office at a cost of €5.00 only in conjunction with a carnet.

La Grande Notte del Jazz is a project by the Fondazione Teatro Grande di Brescia, realised with the artistic collaboration of Emanuele Maniscalco and Luigi Radassao.
