The Great Night of Jazz is back for its fifth edition, the music marathon that traditionally brings some of the most interesting musicians of the Italian and international jazz scene to the stages of the city Massimo.

Saturday 26 March from 19.00 to 23.30 the Teatro Grande will be transformed into the small citadel of jazz with three paths designed to listen to the different interpretations of this vast genre. All the itineraries will open at 7.00 pm in the Sala Grande with a concert by Eleonora Strino, Greg Cohen and Zeno De Rossi.

GROUND is the path that will be divided into the Ridotto of the Teatro Grande where Costanza Alegiani Trio and Fabrizio Sferra will perform with “Folkways” at 9.30 pm and Nazareno Caputo Phylum Trio at 10.45 pm.

AIR it is the path of the Sala Palcoscenico Borsoni where Ilaria Capalbo Quintet will perform with “Karthago” at 9.30 pm and Qaplá at 10.45 pm.

FIRE will take place in the Hall of Scenographies with the performances of ARE Andrea Ruggeri Ensemble “Musiche invisibili” at 9.30 pm and Federico Calcagno & The Dolphians at 10.45 pm.

The routes (full price 30.00 euros; reduced under 30 and over 65 20.00 euros) are on sale from 10 March at the Teatro Grande Box Office, on the website vivaticket.com (opening hours of the Teatro Grande Box Office: from Tuesday to Friday from 13.30 to 19.00 and on Saturday from 15.30 to 19.00).

The concerts will not be sold individually.


The Great Night of Jazz 2022 will also have a corollary appointment that will involve one of the guest artists of this 5th edition for a Lectio Magistralis

which will take place on the morning of Saturday 26 March at 11.00 at the Pietro da Cemmo Hall of the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia. . The meeting will feature Greg Cohen, a world-famous American double bass player who on this occasion will focus on a theme that is very close to his way of making music: the creative approach between jazz and popular music. A free appointment (with compulsory registration via the website www.teatrogrande.it starting from Thursday 16 March) with a great master of jazz music, certainly of interest for fans of the genre, but not only. The Lectio will be held in English.

In these dramatic and shocking hours, the Fondazione del Teatro Grande of Brescia expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainian artists, cultural institutions and concrete support for the courageous Ukrainian population severely affected by the war.

The Foundation has therefore decided to donate the entire proceeds of the concert with the artists Joshua Bell and Shai Wosner, scheduled for March 23 at the Teatro Grande, to the special Ukraine fund of the Croce Bianca in Brescia for humanitarian purposes.

An exceptionally talented duo of musicians Joshua Bell and Shai Wosner will perform on stage in the Great Hall. Joshua Bell is one of the most acclaimed violinists of his time and has performed with all the most important musical realities in the world. Among other accolades, he received a Grammy Award (2018) and 5 other Grammy nominations, as well as winning the Avery Fisher Prize in 2007. Pianist Shai Wosner has collaborated with the most famous conductors and throughout his career has won the Martin E. Segal Award from Lincoln Center, the Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust.

The program that the duo will propose at the Teatro Grande inlcudes in the first part the execution of the Sonata n. 1 in D major for violin and piano by Franz Schubert and Sonata for violin and piano n. 7 in C minor op. 30 n. 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven. After the intermission, the duo will perform Baal Shem. Three paintings of Cassidic life by Ernest Bloch and the Sonata n. 2 in G major for violin and piano by Maurice Ravel.

In the faint hope of a future of peace, March 23 will be a night addressed to all the citizens of Brescia so that with their presence the clear opposition to this war and the shared closeness to the Ukrainian population prevail.

The Teatro Grande Foundation announces that Francesco Bianconi’s concert scheduled for Wednesday 16 March has been postponed to Wednesday 25 May. The event has been moved in the face of the epidemiological situation and the entire 2022 tour will therefore touch the main Italian cities starting in May.

The concert will involve the Tuscan singer-songwriter flanked by the band composed by Angelo Trabace at the piano; Zevi Bordovach at the harmonium, Moog and Mellotron; Alessandro Trabace on violin; Sebastiano de Gennaro on percussion and vibes; Stefano Pilia on guitar; Enrico Gabrielli on saxophones, clarinet, flute and synthesizers.

Tickets already purchased are also valid for the new date. All those who have purchased a ticket for the evening and wish to request a refund can contact the Teatro Grande Box Office up to and including Wednesday 16 March.

The Teatro Grande Foundation announces that the  dance show with the Batsheva Dance Company planned on February 18is canceled due to restrictions on international travel related to the pandemic.

All those who bought the ticket for the evening at the Box Office can request a refund at the Teatro Grande Box Office up to and including Friday 18 February.

The Teatro Grande Foundation presents the program for the January-July 2022 Season.

Artists among the most acclaimed in the world and promising young performers will be able to fascinate the most transversal audience, with the aim of rebuilding together, step by step, the desire to share the passion for theater and the trust in “being together” through culture.

A multidisciplinary proposal that transversally touches the wide panorama of live entertainment with Opera, dance, chamber music concerts, contemporary, jazz, indie, in addition to the meetings, special events and educational projects that will be distributed in the different spaces of the Theater and outside the walls of the Grande.

The Foundation of Teatro Grande of Brescia presents the September-December 2021 Season with the renewed commitment of an important, multidisciplinary program aimed at a transversal audience.

Despite the difficulties related to the current health emergency and after the rich summer season, also in the second half of 2021 the Foundation proposes a new billboard that can welcome its audience into the theater through a renewed artistic proposal that will recover the canceled appointments. in the previous Season. The show proposal will in fact include the rescheduling of appointments and opera titles that could not be staged in 2020, but also new proposals including chamber, baroque and contemporary music concerts, in addition to Italian and international dance shows.

CALENDAR SEPTEMBER DECEMBER 2021 SEASON

The schedule of the evening shows has been brought forward to 20.00.

Each event will be carried out safely and in compliance with the regulations related to the containment of the spread of the Covid-19 infection. In this regard, we point out that, following the latest regulatory provisions, access to the spaces of the Theater will be possible only after showing the Green Pass.

Tickets for all the performances of the season will be on sale from Friday 10th September at the Teatro Grande Box Office and on vivaticket.com.

There are no season tickets for Opera appointments, but only tickets for individual appointments. Subscribers of the 2019 Opera and Ballet Season can take advantage of a special reduction of 50% compared to the full ticket.

The Teatro Grande Foundation announces the extraordinary openings of the Ridotto during the month of August. A real architectural jewel can be seen for free, allowing citizens to access one of the most evocative eighteenth-century spaces in the area.

Starting from Tuesday 3 August and until Friday 27, the spaces of the Theater will be freely accessible to tourists and visitors. Admission is from Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 to 19.00, free and without the need for a reservation.

It will thus be possible to admire the magnificence of the Ridotto and the historical documents related to the Brescia debut of the opera Madama Butterfly. In addition to the original 1904 poster, the original image of the cast and an autograph letter written by Giacomo Puccini relating to the general rehearsal of the opera are also preserved in the Butterfly Room. Also not to be missed is the Sala del Teosa, a real and perfectly preserved frescoed casket.

On the days of August 3, 25, 26 and 27 there will also be live musical interludes by the young formation of the Bazzini Consort.

Waiting for the new season of performances that will inaugurate in September, the Teatro Grande Foundation therefore decides to keep the doors of one of the most visited monuments in the city open. A proposal that is part of the wider cultural tourism project that intends to enhance the potential of the Teatro Grande in its role as a historical monument.

Finally, we remind you that the Caffè del Teatro Grande Berlucchi will be open until Sunday 1 August and then reopen on Saturday 28 August, to coincide with the resumption of performances.

The concert scheduled for Tuesday 27th July at the Teatro Grande was canceled due to the indisposition of the pianist Yuja Wang.

The music review Grande in the province returns in the summer of 2021 with a rich program distributed in some of the most evocative places in the Brescia area. The project brings the excellence of the Teatro Grande outside its walls to meet the audience in ever-changing settings and atmospheres, from historic homes and castles to churches and the numerous parks scattered throughout the Brescia province. An initiative that reaches its sixth edition this year, organized by the Teatro Grande Foundation and the Province of Brescia, with the collaboration of the Province of Brescia Events Foundation.

The combination of music and the enhancement of the beauties of our territory has always been much appreciated by the audience who flocked to the appointments scheduled in previous editions. After the success of the last edition, also in 2021 the format of the show will range from different genres, passing from opera recitals to chamber music, from jazz to chanson française.

There will be twelve musical events, scheduled from 15th June to 7th September starting at 21.00 and specific access procedures for each location.
