The Fontamar Consort’s productions are inspired by the songs of Parisian poet and pianist Jean Fontamar (aka Cyrille Doublet). They are love songs, written and composed for the voice of his consort, Laurianne Langevin. This is the core. This the root. But along nearly two decades of living in Italy, the two French artists, well known by now to the Brescian audience, have shaped their work in close contact with leading musicians of the Italian jazz scene: the double bass of Marco Bardoscia, the baritone guitar of Valerio Daniele, the percussion of Vito de Lorenzi and the saxophone of Roberto Gagliardi. A common thread also unites, under various titles, these six musicians: the figure of Paolo Fresu. The great trumpeter has not only left an indelible mark on the recent history of jazz as a musician. He has also been doing so, for almost 15 years, as a producer. With his record company Tǔk, he decided to produce the first record of the Fontamar Consort, entitled Ramour (“Riamore,” in Italian) recognizing in these love songs the ideal of poetry, luminosity and energy that has long inspired his very rich musical history. In this consortium, where the flowering of the Italian jazz scene meets two rising stars of French song, musicians from Paris and musicians from Southern Italy decide to bring the waters of the Seine and those of the Mediterranean together in one embrace. A major world premiere meeting at the Teatro Grande in Brescia.
