Pianist Costanza Principe presents a bold and refined program that combines selected pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach—transcribed for piano, including the monumental Ciaccona from Partita No. 2, BWV 1004—with John Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano. The contrast between the rigid architecture of Bach’s counterpoint and Cage’s experimental timbres finds a surprising harmony in her interpretation, between silence and sound, structure and randomness.
