Alessandro Sciarroni | Marta Ciappina | Op.22 No.2

Op. 22 No. 2 is the title of a short solo choreographed by Alessandro Sciarroni, commissioned and from an idea by Emanuele Masi for BolzanoDanza, inspired by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ symphonic poem The Swan of Tuonela and based on the epic poem Kalevala from Finnish mythology. The choreographic solo is performed by Marta Ciappina, dancer winner of the UBU Best Actress/performer 2023 Award with whom Sciarroni has been collaborating for several years.

“Alessandro writes a female figure adorned with sharp feathers and equipped with filed nails. Yet, hidden by the gleam of supposed vigor, her eyes appear reduced to a thin slit, her speech limp in the presence of death, her skin quivering. Is this not me? Former child who ridiculed life by defying events with purple arrows. The writer approaches, understands and does not fear. Happiness is grasped. Thank you.”
