The 2026 season of the Teatro Grande Ensemble pays tribute to the great Hamburg composer Johannes Brahms, pairing him with 20th-century composers who were undoubtedly influenced by his work. They embraced it, rejected it, stayed close to it or distanced themselves from it, so as not to be enveloped by its seductive coils. March 10 opens with the most Germanic of worlds, that of Lieder. Here, the common thread between Brahms and Mahler is evident: the German language, so well suited to this musical form, so poetic and with lyrics so rich in imagery that they take us back to the height of Romanticism: nature and the deepest human impulses.
