Alessandro Barbero in a lecture dedicated to the figure of the patron saint of Italy, San Francesco, one of the most popular and known figures in Christian history.
Few know that the image of the affable and joyful saint who preached to the birds corresponds very little to the testimonies of those who had known him. Testimonies that present a much rougher and more conflictual character. The Franciscan order after his death corrected and cleansed the memory of the founder, giving rise to a discussion still open today: who was really Francis?
