OperaLombardia for the World Opera Day

OperaLombardia and Regione Lombardia come together to celebrate the world day dedicated to opera: two events for families and opera lovers are scheduled on 20 October.

The five theatres (the Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo, the Teatro Grande of Brescia, the Teatro Sociale of Como / AsLiCo, the Teatro Ponchielli of Cremona, the Teatro Fraschini of Pavia), continue their collaboration and, together with I Pomeriggi Musicali, thanks to the precious support of Regione Lombardia and Fondazione Cariplo, celebrate World Opera Day together.

The theatres of the OperaLombardia circuit will join forces for two appointments scheduled on Friday 20 October 2023, in the Region of Milan, at the Belvedere on the 39th floor of Palazzo Lombardia, with free admission (booking required at operalombardia@regione.lombardia.it).

At 8.30 p.m. there will be an opera concert with a selection of arias from the titles co-produced by the circuit for the 2023 Opera Season.
The singers in the concert, accompanied at the piano by Maestro Eric Foster, will be Arina Alexeeva, who was Angelina in Opera Tomorrow 2022’s La Cenerentola, tenor Kazuki Yoshida and baritone Gangsoon Kim, the protagonists of Luisa Miller who will also perform arias from Don Carlo, and finally Caterina Meldolesi, soprano interpreter of Luisa who on this occasion will delight us with arias from Butterfly.

On the same day, at 5.30 p.m., there will be Cantiamo Turandot, an Opera Education workshop dedicated to Turandot for children aged 6 to 12, organised by the trainer Francesco Malanchin.
The workshop will weave together storytelling, listening, musical play and singing, allowing the discovery of one of the best-known and most fascinating fairy tales in music: Turandot by Giacomo Puccini.

The events are free admission with compulsory booking by e-mail to operalombardia@regione.lombardia.it.
