Even for the new season 2019, Opera embodies the essence of Teatro Grande. During these years it has tried to give a new boost to the lyric genre through valued and innovative mise-en-scene that enhance traditional, contemporary and Twentieth century operas. Moreover the Theatre has organised numerous initiatives capable of reaching a new audience and encouraging a renew interest
Five are the titles proposed and coproduced in the Circuit of OperaLOmbardia. The season will start with an enthusiastic diptych with L’Heure Espagnole by Maurice Ravel and Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini. Followed by Gyglielmo Tell by Gioachino Rossini, Macbeth and Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. The season will close with the classic ballet The Beauty and the Beast with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovski.
Tradition and contemporaneity are again the outstanding traits that characterise the offer of Teatro Grande. Guglielmo Tell, Macbeth and Aida are linked to the traditional repertoire but often rarely performed because of staging difficulties as in the case of Aida. Instead,
Gianni Schicchi and L’heure Espagnole (The last never has never been performed in Brescia) are manifestations of the Twentieth century collection.
