Continuity, tradition and contemporaneity are the marks of Opera and Ballet 2017 Season of Teatro Grande, enriched by an extra title.

Continuity coincides with the will to follow the Mozart titles of last three-years period with an additional homage to the great composer of Salzburg, Die Zauberflőte, staged for the first time in 1791 few months after his death. In the name of tradition Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen by Georges Bizet and La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini, are threee repertory titles in every international Theatres as unchallengeble evidence of the Melodramma immortality in Italy and all over the world. Finally Ettore Majorana. Cronache di infinite scomparse is the title related to Contemporaneity, the opera that work towards future, involving young authors thet won the contest “Opera Oggi” and that confirms the attention payed by OperaLombardia Theatres to “different” languages, projecting the Opera towards new expression possibilities. Finally the title of Classic Ballet is Lo Schiaccianoci danced by Ballet du Grand Théatre de Genève.

The 2017 programme places important expectations both on new figures and artists that renew their collaboration with Teatro Grande as Maestro Carlo Goldestein.  Great expectations also for the directors: Arturo Cirillo, Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek, Frédéric Roels, Elena Barbalich and Stefano Simone Pintor. Besides professionists with solid experience and celebrity, Teatro Grande supports young talents that found here their “springboard”.
