In 2021, the dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests began an innovative artistic process that translates into continuous production of both digital and live formats. Terry Riley’s In C (1964) is the musical foundation of this work, a composition considered revolutionary. On this milestone of the history of music, the famous German choreographer Sasha Waltz and the dancers of her company have developed a choreographic work that follows an equally variable structure, deliberately designed not to be a finished scenic piece, but in continuous evolution. The result is an experimental system of 53 choreographic figures that fit into a structured improvisation, a dynamic and modular system adaptable in different times and formats.
