Musica in viaggio
The pages that follow one another in the sound itinerary of this concert – proposed by the Orchestra I pomeriggi musicali and Maestro Stefano Montanari, one of Italy’s most eclectic conductors – have to do, to varying degrees, with the theme of the journey: written during the journey or on the way back, or imagining remote places, translating the resonance of those experiences into sounds. Haydn’s Overture plumbs an inner world possessed by a gloomy frenzy and close to the German literary movement of the Sturm und Drang; lightness and transparency inspire Mozart in the interweaving of two complementary but heterogeneous instruments; for Mendelssohn, the Symphony represents the evocation of that ‘greatest joy of living’ that constituted the dazzling experience of our country.
