The third proposal, planned on November 5th with an afternoon rerun on November 7th , will be Iphigénie en Tauride, a work by Christoph Willibald Gluck, never staged in Brescia. The character of Iphigenia depicts the protagonist – unaware of the fate of her family – in the land of the Tauri barbarians as a priestess. Her brother taken prisoner will be entrusted as a sacrifice and from here numerous vicissitudes will follow one another. The German musician managed to create from this tormented plot, inspired by the tragedy of Euripides, a highly dramatic work of intense emotional suggestion. For this new production of the OperaLombardia Circuit, a cast of established singers is expected, among which the extraordinary voice of Anna Caterina Antonacci stands out for the role of the protagonist. Together with her on stage Bruno Taddia (Oreste), Mert Süngü (Pylade), Michele Patti (Thoas) and Marta Leung (Diane / A Greek woman). The direction will be entrusted to the famous Sicilian director Emma Dante who will make use of the collaboration of Carmine Maringola for the sets, Vanessa Sannino for the costumes, Cristian Zucaro for the lights and Sandro Campagna for the choreography. Singers, orchestra and choir will be coordinated by the baton of Maestro Diego Fasolis.
Opera represented in the original language with Italian subtitles.
