Mozart’s Sonatas for violin and piano are not heard very often, and hardly ever all together, therefore, they constitute a rare assortment. Here, instead, they are all performed; I am referring to the mature Sonatas, written since the age of twenty-two. At that time, Mozart had already composed 16 Sonatas and the Minuetto – created at the age of six – which was his first published composition. Actually, the sonatas of that time were only for piano, with an optional part for the violin that could be neglected. Ours, represent a revolution because for the first time we performed the action, we could say the conflict between two different personalities, two psychologies, those of the instruments that have different values, not always identical. A seed thrown in the future to open a space and create a new genre that will lead to Kreuzer’s and Brahms’ sonatas and all the marvellous sonatas of the 19th and 20th century. Their seed does not need to ripen; everything is already complete in Mozart. It is the trick of Mozart’s writing style, which as a precious casing, hides and covers the tensions of a rich interior world.
