Contemporary opera Ettore Majorana. Cronaca di infinite scomparse is the project made by an artistic team who are all under 35, selected through the international contest announced by OperaLombardia circuit in 2016.
During the three year period of 2015-2017, OperaLombardia Theatres decided to include in their season – which is traditonally dedicated to great Opera repertory – an unpublished title as a result of a new music-theatre project. A new commission is in co-production with Theater Magdeburg (Germany) and Valencia Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Spain), for a total opera project that consists of: Libretto writing, music creation and direction. “The artistic team includes, the librettist, composer, director, scenographer and costumist, and is made by those under 35 in order to concieve a communicative, dialectical project which is able to speak to a new audience as wide as possible. The opera is able to tell the present through melodramatic language, and this project, with its complete origionality can still maintain a connection with tradition.”
The music is composed by Roberto Vetrano, with Stefano Simone Pintor on libretto. Pintor is also the director; scenes and costumes are curated by Gregorio Zurla and lights by Fiammetta Baldisseri. The opera was part of the 68th Contest for Young Opera Singers of Europe and the winners Federica Livi and Lucas Moreira Cardoso stood out as La Fisica and Ettore Majorana respectively. In other roles are Cecilia Bernini (La Cantante), Monica Tiberia Naghi (La Fisica), Ugo Tarquini (L’Antimajorana) and Pietro Toscano (Dio). The opera is now part of the OperaLombardia 2017 program and, furthermore, will be performed in the 2018 Opera Season of Theatre Magdeburg and Valencia Palau de les Arts Renia Sofìa. Maestro Jacopo Rivani will conduct the Orchestra I Pomeriggi musicali and OperaLombardia Choir.
