The 2018 Opera and Ballet Season includes six opera titles, five of which are co-produced within the OperaLombardia Circuit. Tosca will be the Puccini masterpiece that will inaugurate the Season; followed by Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi, Rinaldo by composer Georg Friedrich Händel, Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni and La Voix humaine by Francis Poulenc. The Season is also embellished with an unpublished title, a special project dedicated to one of the most significant contemporary composersViaggio musicale all’inferno by the Brescian Maestro Giancarlo Facchinetti. The playbill is finally completed with a ballet, which this year will be Cinderella by Sergej Prokof’ev, danced by the Scuola di Ballo dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
Tradition and contemporaneity are the salient features that once again distinguish the operatic proposals of Teatro Grande. As always, in addition to performances, the 2018 Season offers a series of cultural initiatives to approach the works and in-depth analysis of the genre, with events open to the public and appealing to a wide variety of demographics. These include the Student previews, the Pazzi for the Opera cycle, In diretta dalla Scala (A live broadcast from Milan’s Teatro alla Scala), Alla Scala con il Grande and the unmissable event of the Festival dell’Opera which will be held this year on Saturday 15th September.
